Welcome To Yorkshire
Hattie and George live in London but returned to George’s home county of Yorkshire for their wedding celebrations. Their wedding was held in August and although the sun flirted with making an appearance throughout the morning preparations, by the time of the ceremony a light cloud had covered the blue sky, but with a pleasant summer temperature, the ceremony took place in the gardens under the band stand led by celebrant Penelope Jayne. Confetti followed the ceremony with drinks in the gardens before three fantastic speeches the were funny, heath warming and genuinely emotional. Hattie then changed into her evening dress and was swept up into the confetti by George as they started their first dance and the evening celebrations went into full swing.
Creating The Film
Hattie and George’s Thicket Priory wedding was a truly wonderful day with a fantastic group of people that gave me so many creative options for the trailer edit. With so much movement in the day I wanted to link three events, Hattie arriving at the ceremony, Hattie and George entering for the wedding breakfast and Hattie and George walking down the stairs to enter for the first dance, with the sequence culminating in the confetti cannons and George lifting Hattie up. Starting with the morning preparations, I cut between Hattie, George and the venue all being prepared for the wedding ceremony and then built the tension up to Hattie walking out into the gardens, this sets in motion a sequence of parallel action between the three parts of the day mentioned above where I cut between each moment to build anticipation and ending on the high of the confetti explosion. That sequence took hours to pull together, to ensure each cut was at the right moment so the pace of the sequence worked and the momentum wasn’t lost but like anything that takes time, I think it really works and showcases what a brilliant day Hattie and Georges wedding was.
