Owen House Wedding Barn in the heart of Cheshire is a fantastic wedding venue and it was the perfect setting for Victoria and Matt’s wedding day, especially as Victoria is an airline pilot. Owen House Barn is within a few miles of Manchester Airport and this was the final tick in the box for Victoria and Matt when they booked the venue for their wedding day. There is so much to love about Owen House Wedding Barn, firstly, it’s a working farm that is family owned and run, so there’s a real personal, welcoming feel to the venue. Secondly, it’s been thought out and styled with photography and videography in mind. Dan, the owner, has created a venue with beautiful pockets of amazing light, scattered all over the venue, so no matter what part of the day you’re at, every part of the venue looks beautiful with subtle styling that just adds richness, colour a unique look and feel to each area of the venue. It’s a fantastic wedding venue and certainly one that looks stunning through the eyes of the camera lens.

Wedding Preparations

Both Victoria and Matt got ready at Owen House Wedding Barn, with Victoria in the Beauty Shed and Matt in the Barber Shed (complete with fuss-ball table and barbers chair!). With both Victoria and Matt so close together it made switching between the two easy and helped me film their story in a more complete way, featuring both of their sets of preparation with their friends and family. There was plenty of laughter and emotion as Victoria and Matt exchanged presents before their wedding service, with some lovely heart felt moments with Victoria and her mother and Matt and his father. These moments are the gold that I look for at each wedding, small but personal moments that capture the genuine emotion and love that tell a richer story about the couple and their connection to their friends and family.  Victoria and Matt’s wedding was unique in that there were two ceremonies, starting with a humanist celebration before a second, small personal ceremony with the team of registrars at Your Ceremony who held the official marriage ceremony. This was a surprise for Victoria and Matt’s family and created a wonderful, personal ceremony, filled with even more emotion! The drinks and canapés flowed during the reception as the secret ceremony took place and it was a surprise to the guests when Victoria and Matt re-appeared legally married!

The Shooting Gallery at Owen House Barn

The speeches and the wedding breakfast took place before Victoria and Matt followed top photographer Louise Cuppello of The Bride Tribe and myself through into the Shooting Gallery at Owen House Wedding Barn. The Shooting Gallery is a huge covered area with up-lights, down lights, wall lights, stage lights, even a smoke machine and a Land Rover. It’s a fantastic idea and you are absolutely guaranteed to create some amazing images within the Shooting Gallery in any weather as it’s a covered area.  I loved every minute of shooting Victoria and Matt’s Owen House Barn wedding videography and the finished film is one of my favourites of the year. It was great to work again with Lizzie Griffiths Make Up Artist and Vanilla in Allseasons who were as wonderfully accommodating as always.
