Château de Courtomer Wedding Videography // Elizabeth & Matthew

Liz and Matt’s Château de Courtomer Wedding Videography. Where to start? From Oregon, United States to Normandy, France. Liz and Matt were planning a fairytale European wedding, where the perfect venue would be the backdrop to a weekend of family and friends celebrating, dining upon fine food and a beautiful wedding ceremony. Château de Courtomer was just that venue. Set in rural Normandy, just over two hours from the hustle of Paris, you’ll find the charming commune of Courtomer. Home to just over 700 people, Courtomer could easily be missed as you travel through the picturesque French countryside, yet hidden behind the commune is the spectacular Château de Courtomer. Set in 360 acres of woodland, parks and farmland, the Chateau is the centre piece of Courtomer.

Chateau de Courtomer was home of the families of The Counts and Marquis of Courtomer between 1049 until 1905 and the current building was built on the site of the family’s 11th century medieval château. The present grand design was under construction by 1789 and it was inspired by Louis the Sun King’s Palace of Versailles. And work came to a halt on the eve of the French revolution but was finally completed a few years later. In 2005 the château was bought by the current owner and significantly renovated into the beautiful venue you see today, modern design touches incorporated into the historic building style, you feel like you’ve stepped back into history yet are surrounded by modern luxury. It is a stunning venue for a luxury wedding weekend and is available for exclusive use weddings throughout the year. With ample accommodation within the château and the accompanying farmhouse and a wide range of top class local suppliers available so you can create a bespoke wedding as you imagined.

Destination Wedding Videography

Destination wedding videography comes with some unique challenges, however I love to travel and experience new countries, cultures and locations. Destination weddings are always made much easier by working with top class wedding suppliers. Working alongside UK based wedding photographer Andrew Keher for the weekend certainly helped. Andrew is a superb photographer and a pleasure to film alongside and his work from this wedding can be seen here on his website. We also had the pleasure of working the wonderful Sofia Weddings and Events, who organised and managed a superb weekend and was very helpful over our time in France. Liz and Matt’s wedding started with evening drinks on Thursday, a trip out to the beautiful village of Beuvron-en-Auge, one of the most beautiful villages in Normandy before a BBQ reception the night before the wedding on Saturday.

Liz and Matt’s wedding started with preparation throughout the day before a 4pm ceremony outdoors, with the chateau as the backdrop for Liz and Matt’s vows. With Liz’s father conducting the ceremony, the service was personal, unique and intimate. Drinks in the garden with live jazz before heartfelt speeches over dinner and late night dancing in the orangery, I was never short of something beautiful to film. I got to exchange stories about the USA and the UK with Liz’s friends and family, learn all about Tornados as Liz and Matt originally hail from Oklahoma (the Tornado capital of the USA), see beautiful rural France and spend time with a wonderful group of people who were incredibly welcoming over the 4 days I spent in France, here’s what Liz had to say after receiving their wedding films…

“Myself, Matt  my entire family lovvveee you so much, I can’t get over what a great choice you were! It was so fun having you at the wedding, a truly seamless addition. I just wanted to let you know that I came to see my family and some extended family who weren’t able to make it to France and so far we’ve done two viewings with big groups and we will be having at least two more and everyone absolutely LOVES the film.

I love it too and I will say it’s hard to watch yourself on video especially if you don’t do it a lot but watching it over and over has helped and I only love it more and more each time that I see it.  Thanks so much again for everything, I’ll never be able to say enough and I don’t want you to have to read a super long email while I try, but know that my heart is so full and I feel so lucky to have been able to meet you and work with you and you are a top rate human being in addition to your talent.  The time there was so magical and I’m so thankful that you captured it forever.”

And on that, I don’t think I can really say anymore. If you are planning a destination wedding anywhere in the world, please get in touch to find out how I can help tell your wedding story on film, I have experience of weddings in Italy in Tuscany and Lake Como, Ibiza in Spain, Normandy in France and Las Vegas and New York City in the USA. I’m always looking to return to these amazing locations and add new countries, cities and venues to my destination wedding collection. Please enquire on the link below for more information.
