Hi, I’m James, a Cheshire wedding videographer creating cinematic, documentary wedding films for couples across Cheshire and the North West who want their day captured naturally and authentically.

Cheshire is one of the most beautiful counties in the UK and is home to many of the country’s best wedding venues, such as Colshaw Hall, Merrydale ManorCombermere Abbey, Dorfold Hall, Delamere Manor, Arley Hall, Capesthorne Hall and Owen House Barn, the list goes on. I have worked at some of the very best wedding venues in Cheshire throughout my 14 year wedding career.

I am a four time award winner at The Wedding Industry Awards, both regionally and nationally between 2022 and 2024, and I now sit on the judging panel for the awards. With experience from over 500 weddings, I am one of the most trusted wedding videographers in Cheshire.

My approach is discreet and documentary led. I focus on real moments, natural emotion and storytelling to create cinematic wedding films that retell your wedding day exactly as it felt.

"You have captured our wedding day so, so perfectly, and we are so glad we made the decision to get a videographer and that you were the one we chose! We can’t wait to show our family and friends over the next few weeks. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just blown away."

Why couples choose me as their Cheshire wedding videographer

My style of wedding videography in Cheshire is very natural and documentary. I film the majority of your day without staging or setting up any moments. I capture what is really happening as it naturally unfolds, creating a film that is unique to each couple.

Capturing real moments ensures your film feels like you are back at your wedding day, with no forced, awkward or staged scenes.

I place a strong emphasis on storytelling. My films are not just a collection of moments set to music. They are carefully crafted to build your story, creating emotional highs, laughter, and key moments, with every frame chosen to reflect your day.

I have worked at Cheshire venues for 14 years and have built strong relationships with many wedding suppliers across the area, including leading photographers, venue stylists and planners. I am also very familiar with how a Cheshire wedding day flows, working alongside registrars from both Cheshire registry offices. This experience helps me plan ahead and ensures I capture the most important parts of your day.

I am based close to Cheshire, meaning there are no additional travel fees. All travel costs are included in my pricing, which starts from £2,000. Below are examples of my latest films from Cheshire venues:

WHAT IS INCLUDED IF I BOOK YOU AS MY VIDEOGRAPHER?

To create documentary wedding films in Cheshire, I offer coverage from preparations through to the first dance and evening celebrations. I typically start 2 to 3 hours before your ceremony so I can capture both partners getting ready. The excitement and anticipation before the wedding helps set the tone for your story.

I include the full ceremony and speeches in all packages, filmed from multiple angles. I then cover the drinks reception and evening celebrations to create a natural, cinematic film unique to each couple. I use a mix of ambient audio, ceremony and speech recordings supported with licenced music. Drone coverage included in all packages (weather and venue permitting).

I aim to deliver your film within 8 to 12 weeks, although it is often sooner. I will keep you updated throughout the editing process.

COLSHAW HALL

Colshaw Hall is a Grade II-listed Tudor manor on its own private 300-acre estate in Over Peover in Cheshire. You enter along the long private drive into manicured gardens that lead towards the stunning house.

You can get married in The Stables ceremony room with exposed oak beams, marble floors and a glass wall that opens to a waterfall and garden view, or outdoors with the Hall as your ceremony backdrop.

Colshaw Hall looks beautiful on film inside and out. Thoughtfully designed, it flows beautifully and each area looks fantastic on camera. My favourite area is the walled garden. The drinks reception in the walled garden looks wonderful with the iconic Hall as your backdrop.

Colshaw Hall is one of the most popular venues, not just in Cheshire, but in the UK. Couples book this venue two years in advance because of its amazing service and beautiful setting. It is always one of my most popular venues every year.

MERRYDALE MANOR

Merrydale Manor is an exclusive‑use country estate in Over Peover, Cheshire. The sister venue to Colshaw Hall, you enter along the grand driveway that leads to the Manor House next to the iconic lake and fountain.

The ceremony room now has a new glass wall which casts stunning natural light into your wedding ceremony. This is such a huge advantage for filming, as you will be stood in this beautiful light throughout your ceremony.

Merrydale Manor is equally as popular as Colshaw Hall and couples will book Merrydale Manor years in advance. One of the venues unique benefits is that is can accommodate much larger weddings than many other Cheshire venues, with capacity to hold up to 240 people. Couple with the luxury styling, stunning grounds and beautiful location for sunsets, Merrydale is also one of my most popular venues every wedding season.

OWEN HOUSE WEDDING BARN

Owen House Barn in Mobberley, Cheshire, is a rustic, family-run venue that blends countryside character with modern, design-led styling to create a truly unique wedding experience.

Owen House looks incredible on film. The venue has been designed with photography and videography in mind, with thoughtful details such as diffused skylights and dance-floor lighting ensuring every part of your day looks its best on camera. The Shooting Gallery is a standout feature, a dedicated space where you can create bold, creative portraits. It is one of my favourite parts of Owen House Barn and always produces stunning footage.

The venue is designed to make your day as relaxed as possible, with separate preparation spaces for the bride and groom, on-site accommodation and top-class catering options. Weddings here are always great fun and laid-back, which translates into natural, energetic and film-worthy moments.

COMBERMERE ABBEY

Combermere Abbey is a medieval estate on the border of Cheshire and Shropshire. It is an exclusive-use wedding and events venue. You can get married in the Edwardian Glasshouse or outside in The Maze Garden.

I love outdoor ceremonies, and the Maze Garden is one of the things I really enjoy about Combermere Abbey. Outdoor ceremonies look fantastic on film, with more space, natural light and strong visual impact. The outdoor ceremony here is one of my favourites.

Couples are also able to use the private grounds of Combermere Abbey for their couple shoot, which creates beautiful, natural footage on film.

Absolutely not. Around half of the weddings I film each year are at venues I have not worked at before. My style is storytelling, and people are always the focus. Your venue provides the backdrop, but you and your guests are the story. I take time to find the best light and angles to showcase your venue, but prior experience is not necessary. I have filmed at many venues across Cheshire, so if I have not worked at yours before, do not worry.

My style is completely unstaged. I film the day as it naturally unfolds in a documentary style. I aim to create a film that takes you back to your Cheshire wedding day. If moments are staged or set up, the film will not feel real. Everything you see on my website and socials happened at real weddings.

Yes, I use discreet microphones to capture high quality audio. I record everyone who speaks during your ceremony and speeches, along with natural ambient sound. This helps recreate the atmosphere of your day. The result is a film that looks and sounds authentic. No one is required to wear microphones all day.

There is no universal definition in the wedding industry, so styles vary. My Highlights and Cinematic films are similar in structure, covering the day chronologically with ceremony and speeches helping to tell the story. The main difference is length, with Highlights being shorter than the Feature Film.

My Full Feature Film includes all footage from your wedding day, edited in chronological order. Teasers and trailers are shorter, highly creative edits designed to capture emotion and give a preview of your day, perfect for sharing online.

No. All travel and accommodation costs are included in my pricing. I live less than an hour from Cheshire, so there are no additional fees for any Cheshire wedding.

Yes. I have two of every camera, lens and audio recorder, so I can continue filming without interruption if anything fails.

Yes. I hold £10 million public liability insurance, professional indemnity insurance and drone insurance. I can provide documentation for your venue or planner if required.

I use licensed music from Musicbed. Popular commercial music is extremely expensive to license, often around £40,000 per track. Musicbed allows me to select music that matches the style of songs you love, created by professional artists whose work is used in major productions.

Yes, drone coverage is included in all packages. I am a licensed and insured drone pilot. Flights depend on weather and venue restrictions, but if I can fly, I will. Drone footage adds cinematic views of your Cheshire wedding.

I work with a network of trusted videographers who shoot in a similar style. If needed, one of them will film your day. I always handle the full edit myself to ensure the final film matches my style.

Films are delivered online via Vidflow. You can download, stream and watch on any device, including TV apps. Your gallery is private and not publicly searchable.

Yes. I previously worked as a photographer, so I understand how photographers operate on a wedding day. I always work closely and collaboratively with your photographer and suppliers to ensure everything runs smoothly and you get the best results from both film and photography.

I usually work alone, which keeps things unobtrusive. For larger weddings or multi-location days, I may recommend a second videographer or assistant. I will always advise what is best based on your plans.

You will receive a delivery update shortly after your wedding. In peak season delivery can take up to 12 weeks, and outside peak season around 6 weeks. I prioritise quality and will keep you updated throughout the process. Films are often delivered earlier.

Yes, while I am a Cheshire wedding videographer, I also film weddings across the UK and destination weddings abroad.

Cheshire is a beautiful county that effortlessly blends history, natural beauty, and modern charm, making it one of the most delightful places in England to explore or celebrate one of  life’s major milestones, your wedding. Situated in the northwest of England, it is famed for its rolling countryside, historic market towns and elegant Georgian architecture. Its location, just a short drive from Manchester and Liverpool, gives it accessibility while preserving the tranquillity that visitors and residents cherish.

Beeston Castle in Cheshire

Historically, Cheshire has long been an important region. During the Roman era, the town of Chester served as a major fort and settlement, leaving behind impressive city walls, a Roman amphitheatre, and a wealth of medieval architecture that still captivates visitors today. The county also played a pivotal role in the English Civil War, with key battles and skirmishes taking place across its towns and villages, leaving a rich tapestry of heritage sites for history enthusiasts to explore.

Cheshire is home to a range of charming towns and cities, each with its own character. Chester, with its iconic Rows and riverside charm, is perfect for leisurely walks and historical exploration. Knutsford, a quaint town adored for its boutique shopping and cosy tea rooms, inspired Elizabeth Gaskell’s novels, while Macclesfield showcases the county’s industrial past where is it was the heart of the British silk industry with over 70 silk mills in the area by 1820. For those seeking countryside retreats, towns like Tarporley and Alderley Edge provide picturesque villages, woodland walks, and exclusive country estates.

Quiant Cheshire villages

The county has also nurtured many famous personalities. Musician Ian Curtis of Joy Division hailed from Macclesfield, James Bond actor Daniel Craig was born in Chester and author of Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll was born in Daresbury. Perhaps the most appropriately named sports star is James Chester, former Aston Villa and Hull City defender, was born in Chester!

When it comes to weddings, Cheshire is exceptional. Its mix of historic castles, stately homes, and country estates provides stunning backdrops for ceremonies and photographs. Venues like Peckforton Castle and Arley Hall (the filming location for Peaky Blinders) offer grand settings, while intimate manor houses in rural villages create romantic and personal experiences. Coupled with the beautiful landscapes of the Cheshire countryside and the vibrant local culture, couples can enjoy a celebration that feels both timeless and unique.

In essence, Cheshire’s combination of history, scenic beauty, cultural significance, and world-class wedding venues makes it a county that continues to enchant residents and visitors alike. Whether exploring its Roman roots, strolling through historic towns, or planning a dream wedding, Cheshire offers an experience that is as rich as it is unforgettable.
