Combermere Abbey is a stunning medieval estate located in Cheshire on the border with Shropshire. A unique and historic estate, surrounded by acres of parkland on the banks of Combere Mere, the Abbey was founded in 1130’s and has a fairly volatile past with the church and some of the Abbey being demolished and converted into a country house with further renovations in the 1500’s and 1700’s. The country house and estate has remained in private hands ever since. Weddings take place in Edwardian Glasshouse with receptions held in the Victorian walled gardens with a private marquee.

Lucy and Dominic held their entire wedding at Combermere Abbey, with Lucy getting ready in the cottage and Dominic in the stables. An outdoor ceremony in the gardens adjacent to the Edwardian Glasshouse. Once the ceremony was complete Lucy, Dominic and their guests made their way to the walled gardens for the confetti, group photography and drinks and canapes, It wouldn’t be an English summer wedding without a short downpour but as soon as the cloud passed the guests returned into the gardens until the start of the wedding breakfast. 

Following the wedding breakfast and speeches the low summer sun provided the perfect light for a short session of couple photography with the fantastic Tobiah Tayo Photography. We took in the Country House, lake and woods and enjoyed some beautiful light. This section of the day provided me with opportunity to create some dream inspired footage that I have used to create a dreamlike, abstract feel to the film. I wanted to try something a little different and unique with this edit, with Lucy and Dominics dream wedding plans coming together so well on the day it felt appropriate to try and create an ethereal look to the film with flashbacks and forwards of the day in between the more abstract couple session.

It was a fantastic day at Combermere Abbey and I am really looking forward to returning to film there again soon. Thanks to Tobiah for being a pleasure to work alongside and the team at Combermere Abbey who made it so welcoming and enjoyable for myself all day.
