What You'll Learn
01.
- Kit & Equipment
What are the basics you will need to professionally film. How many cameras? Do I need tripods and monopods? Do I need a gimble and a drone? James will break down what you must have and just as importantly, what you don’t need.
02.
- Audio
Audio can make or break your video. What audio kit you will need and how to use it to get the best audio with the least amount of stress. James will also cover post production and even how to clean up poor quality audio.
03.
- Mindset
The difference between photography and videography and how to manage your mindset when switching between the disciplines.
04.
- How To Film
Autofocus v manual focus, how to setup your camera to film, focus peaking, colour profiles, lens choices, the 180 degree rule, handheld v monopod, all the vital information you’ll need to start making quality videos.
05.
- Workflow & Editing
How to manage your workflow on the day and in post production, how to avoid mistakes with storage. The basics of editing, the software you will need, how to understand an editing timeline, how to edit a basic film, colour grading, file formats, essential plugins, exporting and how to deliver your finished videos.
06.
- Music & SFX
The power of music and how to access licensed music for your films, the free, cost effective and expensive options and the pros and cons of each. What is Foley and how using it and SFX will create better videos.
07.

The lines are blurring between videography and content creation. How to create vertical videos using apps or editing software and how you can now create professional content from an iPhone.

James is a wealth of knowledge and there isn’t a question that’s too silly to ask.
I have always toyed with the idea of doing film and after the workshop I’m now raring to get stuck in.
