Still Motion is a one day workshop for wedding photographer who are interested how to add filming into their business. In 2012 James Tracey started out as a wedding photographer, in 2018 he started to film weddings alongside his photography bookings. He now has over 400 weddings worth of experience in wedding photography and videography across the UK and destination weddings and has been won regional and national awards at The Wedding Industry Awards for Best Wedding Videographer.
James has experienced all the challenges involved in switching over from photography to videography. With modern cameras capable of high quality photography and videography more wedding photographers are looking to add videography options into their business.
Still Motion is aimed at photographers with limited or no experience of filming weddings who are looking to learn more about videography.
The one day course will cover:
Kit & Equipment
What are the basics you will need to professionally film a wedding. How many cameras? Do I need tripods and monopods? Do I need a gimble and a drone? James will break down what you must have and just as importantly, what you don’t need (at least at for your first few weddings).
Audio
Audio can make or break your wedding film. What audio kit you will need and how to use it during the wedding day to get the best audio with the least amount of stress. James will also cover post production and even how to clean up poor quality audio.
How to Film
Autofocus v manual focus, how to setup your camera to help your film, focus peaking, colour profiles, lens choices, the 180 degree rule, handheld v monopod, all the vital information you’ll need to start filming.
Mindset
The difference between photography and filming, how to manage your mindset when switching between the disciplines.
Workflow
How to manage your workflow on the day and in post production and how to avoid mistakes when backing up your films.
Music & SFX
The power of music and how to access licensed music for your films, the free, cost effective and expensive options and the pros and cons of each. James will also talk about foley and SFX and the benefit of using these to improve your film quality.
Film Editing
James will cover the basics of editing, the software you will need, how to understand an editing timeline, how to edit a basic film, colour grading, file formats, essential plugins, exporting and how to deliver you finished films.
Storytelling
James will cover the basics on how to use pacing, audio, music, colour and emotion to tell your compelling wedding story.
