Hi, I’m James, a multi award winning Cheshire wedding videographer. I’m a four time winner regionally and nationally at The Wedding Industry Awards between 2022 and 2024 and I am now one of the select judging panel for the awards.

Cheshire is one of the most beautiful counties in the U.K. and it’s home to many of the countries best wedding venues, such as Colshaw Hall, Merrydale Manor. Combermere Abbey, Dorfold Hall, Delamere Manor, Arley Hall, Capesthorne Hall, Owen House Barn, the list goes on and on. I have been fortunate to have worked at the very best venues in Cheshire over my 14 year wedding career.

Cheshire has a wide range of wedding venues, from stately homes, luxury country houses to chic barns. My style of videography works at every venue as I film discreetly, capturing the real moments, the emotion, the laughter all so I can create a unique, cinematic film that re-tells your personal story.

"You have captured our wedding day so, so perfectly, and we are so glad we made the decision to get a videographer and that you were the one we chose! We can’t wait to show our family and friends over the next few weeks. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just blown away."

COLSHAW HALL

Colshaw Hall is a Grade II‑listed Tudor manor on its own private 300‑acre Cheshire estate with a long drive, manicured gardens, a Japanese garden and a lakeside that give you real variety all in one beautiful venue. The Stables ceremony room has oak beams, marble floors and a glass wall that opens to a waterfall and garden views, so you get clean, natural light and genuine reactions on camera without awkward staging. After vows you can move gently into the Peel Suite and walled garden for drinks, speeches and evening coverage, it’s all in one place and flows effortlessly. There’s also on‑site prep spaces like the makeup lounge and The Den, plus cottages and rooms for the party to stay over. Colshaw Hall is always one of the most popular venues for myself every year and always creates a beautiful Cheshire wedding film.

MERRYDALE MANOR

Merrydale Manor is an exclusive‑use country estate in Over Peover, Cheshire, with a grand driveway, manicured gardens, a serene lake and a contemporary Merrydale Suite that give you plenty of distinct backdrops to shoot on the day. The dedicated civil ceremony room with oak beams and large windows lets you capture real light and genuine reactions without awkward staging, and the lake, courtyard gardens and long parkland drives give you texture and variety for bride & groom moments and documentary‑style coverage. Because you and your guests have the whole estate to yourselves, there’s space to let moments unfold naturally  with prep in the Manor House and The Cave, drinks on the lawns, golden hour by the water, then dinner and dancing in the suite. Merrydale Manor is an opulent venue ideal for larger celebrations and luxury Cheshire wedding videography.

OWEN HOUSE WEDDING BARN

Owen House Barn in Mobberley is a rustic, family-run Cheshire venue that keeps its countryside character with exposed beams, fairy lights, and surrounding paddocks and orchards. The barn itself is spacious and light, making it easy to capture real moments without artificial setups. Prep spaces like the Beauty Shed and the Baa‑ber Shed give natural, distinct environments for filming bridal and groom prep, while the Shooting Gallery and outdoor areas provide variety for portraits and detail shots. Everything about the venue, from the timbered interiors to the on-site accommodation look amazing on camera. with thoughtful design, the venue works so well for cinematic videography. It is so easy to film at Owen House Barn and create a film that looks beautiful. I always find the couples who get married here are always up for a party too, making for a fun, upbeat Cheshire wedding film.

COMBERMERE ABBEY

Combermere Abbey is a medieval estate on the border of Cheshire and Shropshire. It is an exclusive use wedding and events venue, You can get married in the stunning Edwardian Glasshouse or outside in The Maze Garden, all after completing morning preparations in the Keepers Cottage or the new Bothy. Just steps from the Glasshouse, the Bothy is a brand new space designed for the morning preparations. A unique feature of Combermere Abbey is that Luxury Suite in the North Wing of the Abbey House where the couple will receive a butler service on their wedding night! The location and grounds are simply stunning, with manicured gardens, a private lake, the Abbey House and woodland, for your videography, the options are limitless. Absolutely not. Every year around half of the weddings I film are at venues that are new to myself. My style is story telling and people are always the main source of great stories. Your venue will provide the beautiful backdrop, but it is not the star of the film, you and your guests are. I will spend time finding the best light and backdrops so I can frame my shots to showcase you venue in your film, but previously experience is not necessary. I have filmed at many venues across Cheshire, so I am very experienced but if I am new to your venue, do not worry!

My style of videography is absolutely unstaged. I film the day as it happens in a documentary style. I want to create a unique film that takes you back to your Cheshire wedding day, if moments are staged or setup then your film will not feel real. everything you see on my website and socials, really happened at a real wedding.

Yes, I use small, discreet microphones to capture high quality audio. I aim to record every person who speaks during your ceremony and speeches. I also use the ambient audio from your day. I want your film to look AND sound like your day, using the ambient audio really captures the atmosphere and is one of the reasons my films feel different to many other videos. I only place audio recorders on people during the ceremony and speeches, no one will be expected to wear one all day.

There is no standard definition in the wedding videography world, so you will see different interpretation of what a highlights and feature film is on different websites. My Highlights and Cinematic films are similar in style and edit. The main difference is the time, Highlights is a shorter film compared to the Feature Film. They cover the day chronologically and use the ceremony and speeches to narrate the film. My Full Feature Film is all the footage taken on your wedding day, in the order it happened.

Teaser and trailer films are highly creative, edited versions of your day, aiming to capture the feelings alongside storytelling. These are edited to get you excited about watching your longer films and are ideal for sharing online!

I include all travel and accommodation within my wedding prices. I live less than an hour from Cheshire and do not require any additional costs for coverage of any Cheshire wedding.

Yes, I have two of every camera, lens and audio recorder. That way if there are any technical issues, I can continue to film without it impacting my style and coverage.

Yes, I have public liability insurance up to £10 million, professional indemnity insurance and drone insurance. I will provide evidence of this so you can share with your Cheshire venue/planner.

I use licensed music from Musicbed. Popular music is extremely expensive to try and licenced (around £40000 per song). Musicbed have a search function that can match music from their library to the songs you will have chosen on your day, so my underscore will sound similar to music you like, but it will be created by talented artists. I have used artists from Musicbed who score for many of the shows you see on Netflix, including shows as big as  Stranger Things, such as Make Up & Vanity Set who I have used on some of my teasers, they featured in Season 4 of Stranger Things.

Drone coverage is included with all my packages, I am a licenced and insured drone pilot. Occasionally venues have restrictions on drone usage (for example if a family live on the venue) or if there are strong winds or rain, flight will not be possible. If I can fly, I will and the drone coverage will add some stunning cinematography to your Cheshire wedding film.

I have a network of talented videographers, who all shoot in the same style as myself, who can cover and film on my behalf. The final edit, where the magic really happens, will always be undertaken by myself to ensure the film is in my unique cinematic style.

I use a company called Vidflow to deliver my films online in up to 4K Ultra High definition. You can download, share and view on mobile, computer and TV’s from Vidflow. They also have a dedicated TV app. Vidflow are online but your gallery is private and cannot be searched online.

I started out as a photographer so I understand exactly what your photographer needs on the day. A large part of my service is to work collaboratively with all your suppliers, in particular your photographer. Over the years I have built excellent relationships with many photographers who now recommend me to their couples because I work so well alongside them. My aim is for myself and your photographer to deliver the very best images and films for you and I will ensure I always work alongside all your suppliers seamlessly.

I mainly work alone, this enables me to have a small footprint on your wedding but I am experienced in covering large events alone. For certain events I may consider an assistant or second videographer, examples being multi-location events, weddings with over 150 guests or where time constraints or locations would mean I would miss a key part of the day,

For larger celebrations, second videographers can enhance your Cheshire wedding videography experience. I will always offer my professional advice regarding additional staff should you have any questions.

I will provide an update on your expected delivery date a few days after your wedding. I aim to craft the very best film possible and this does take a little time. In peak summer months this can be up to 12 weeks, outside of peak season this can be 6 weeks. I will keep you updated at every stage of the edit so you know exactly when to get a bottle chilling ready for your premiere. I often deliver my films much earlier than expected.

Cheshire is a beautiful county that effortlessly blends history, natural beauty, and modern charm, making it one of the most delightful places in England to explore or celebrate one of  life’s major milestones, your wedding. Situated in the northwest of England, it is famed for its rolling countryside, historic market towns and elegant Georgian architecture. Its location, just a short drive from Manchester and Liverpool, gives it accessibility while preserving the tranquillity that visitors and residents cherish.

Historically, Cheshire has long been an important region. During the Roman era, the town of Chester served as a major fort and settlement, leaving behind impressive city walls, a Roman amphitheatre, and a wealth of medieval architecture that still captivates visitors today. The county also played a pivotal role in the English Civil War, with key battles and skirmishes taking place across its towns and villages, leaving a rich tapestry of heritage sites for history enthusiasts to explore.

Cheshire is home to a range of charming towns and cities, each with its own character. Chester, with its iconic Rows and riverside charm, is perfect for leisurely walks and historical exploration. Knutsford, a quaint town adored for its boutique shopping and cosy tea rooms, inspired Elizabeth Gaskell’s novels, while Macclesfield showcases the county’s industrial past where is it was the heart of the British silk industry with over 70 silk mills in the area by 1820. For those seeking countryside retreats, towns like Tarporley and Alderley Edge provide picturesque villages, woodland walks, and exclusive country estates.

Quiant Cheshire villages

The county has also nurtured many famous personalities. Musician Ian Curtis of Joy Division hailed from Macclesfield, James Bond actor Daniel Craig was born in Chester and author of Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll was born in Daresbury. Perhaps the most appropriately named sports star is James Chester, former Aston Villa and Hull City defender, was born in Chester!

When it comes to weddings, Cheshire is exceptional. Its mix of historic castles, stately homes, and country estates provides stunning backdrops for ceremonies and photographs. Venues like Peckforton Castle and Arley Hall (the filming location for Peaky Blinders) offer grand settings, while intimate manor houses in rural villages create romantic and personal experiences. Coupled with the beautiful landscapes of the Cheshire countryside and the vibrant local culture, couples can enjoy a celebration that feels both timeless and unique.

In essence, Cheshire’s combination of history, scenic beauty, cultural significance, and world-class wedding venues makes it a county that continues to enchant residents and visitors alike.
